Obituary

Adrian Carrell Moore died peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, January 22, 2012, at home, the way he wanted, after living a long honorable life, serving his country, God, and family. Born in Baton Rouge, LA, to Robert Fred Moore and Susie ONeal Moore. He moved with his family to Pensacola as a child. In his early teen years he was caretaker of the Pensacola Jewish Cemetery. At age 15 he began serving in the C.C.C. to help his family survive The Depression. Upon his return, marriage, children, and work at Brooks Thornton Florist (now Celebrations) was interrupted by WWII where he proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in Pattons 3rd Army, 26th Yankee Division, 328th Infantry regiment, surviving the battle of the Bulge. Upon his return, he again worked for Brooks Thornton Florist until 1960 when he and his wife opened Myrtle Grove Florist where they faithfully served their customers for 36 years. At age 78 he was forced to retire by his wife. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joyce Glyndora Fell Moore; son, Gary Carrell, who died in infancy; his parents; two brothers, Calvin Moore and Robert Aubrey Moore; and one sister, Doris Moore Powell. He is survived by one sister, Kathleen Moore Gandy; a daughter, Donna Gayle Moore McDavid (late Wilton Herbert McDavid, Jr.); a son, Mark Farrin Moore (Linda C.); grandchildren, Wilton Herbert McDavid, III (Rhonda), Shannon Andrea McDavid (David McCormick), Adrian Cody Moore, and Amy Jeanette Webber; also two great-grandchildren, Maggie Joy McDavid and Matthew Timothy McDavid. The family is especially grateful to the workers of Emerald Coast Hospice whose help made it possible for him to be cared for in his own home, and also for a faithful neighbor and friend, Heidi Connors, and his beloved little dog, Bubby, who among many others helped through the loneliness of confinement. Visitation will be held 12:30pm Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with a Graveside Service to follow at 2:00pm at Myrtle Grove Methodist Cemetery. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
