Obituary

Adrian "Andy" P. Remke, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023, after a brief illness.

Andy was born August 7, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, to Anthony and Louise (Kloppenborg) Remke. He grew up in Davenport, Iowa, and attended Catholic schools there. He graduated from St Ambrose University with a degree in accounting. He was awarded a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He later received his MBA from Baldwin Wallace College.

He worked in accounting and finance his entire career, first as a senior auditor with Arthur Young & Company. He then moved into hospital administration as Chief Accountant at Franciscan Medical Center in Rock Island, Illinois. Next, he served as Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. He then became Corporate Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, Ohio. Andy always said he made it to paradise when he came to Pensacola in 1988 and became Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Baptist Health Care Corporation, from which he retired in 2000. He left retirement to join Landrum Companies, a HR outsourcing company, as Vice President and CFO and later as Corporate Treasurer. He retired from Landrum in 2014.

Over the years, Andy has been involved with many community boards and organizations including Catholic Charities, Landrum Companies, Covenant Hospice, Fiesta of Five Flags, Clean & Green, United Way, YMCA, WSRE, Alzheimer's Family Services, Friends of the Library, Leadership Pensacola, Mayoki Indians, and Rotary International.

While in college and working at a grocery store Andy met Patricia Walsh. Andy and Pat were best friends for a few years before getting married on September 4, 1965.Together they raised three children.  Andy and Pat enjoyed many years traveling the world. They have been to every state and more than 50 countries. Andy also enjoyed woodworking and entertaining family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca (Remke) in 2003 and Joseph Neyer in 2015.

Andy is survived by his wife, Patricia (Walsh) Remke and children, Deborah (Remke) and Donald Butts of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Julie and Paul Remke of Pensacola. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, and Zeke Neyer of Colorado; Sarah and Maria Butts of Ohio; Abigail Remke of Pensacola; his brother and his wife, John and Carolyn Remke of Vero Beach, Florida; his brother Joseph Remke of Fairway, Kansas; and his sister, Regina (Remke) Bremhorst, of Urbandale, Iowa, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2 pm and followed by a memorial service at 3 pm, both at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, Pensacola, Florida.
