Lt. Col. Albert F. "Bert" Stumpe, 95 years old, a resident of Azalea Trace in Pensacola died on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Bert was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 11, 1922, the only child of Albert H. and Lillian E. (Reeder) Stumpe, both deceased.

He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Ada M. "Hammy" Stumpe.

He is survived by sons, Kent (Tamiko) and Mike (Donna); six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Lt. Col. Stumpe enlisted in the Army Air Corps in October 1942 and after completing pilot training, flew cargo aircraft in the South Pacific during World War II. Later in his career he was a Procurement and Production Officer with numerous assignments as Officer in Charge of USAF Contracting Offices in various locations in the US and overseas. He was awarded three USAF Commendation Medals and one Department of Defense Commendation Medal in recognition of his outstanding performance.

He was a graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology, Long Island University, Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1970, he sold real estate in the Cleveland, Ohio area until 1985. During that time he was active in a large Kiwanis Club in Rocky River, Ohio, serving in various officer positions including being President for one year. In 1990, he and Ada moved to Pensacola to enjoy southern living.

Graveside Committal service will be held at 11:30am Friday, April 6, 2018 at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Air Force military honors. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Azalea Trace Auditorium with Chaplain Jim Dietz officiating.
