Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander Golovko.

He was born on December 12, 1945 in Salzburg, Austria and died on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in Pensacola, FL.

His parents, Grigori and Olga Golovko moved to the United States in 1962. After high school, Alex was drafted into the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War where he was stationed at Hurlbert Field in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Alex met his wife, Rebecca while stationed there. They were married for fifty-five happy years. After he got out of the service, he attended The University of West Florida and graduated in 1974.

Alex taught Spanish and Russian at B.T. Washington High School. He was also instrumental in beginning soccer in the local area.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grigori and Olga Golovko.

Alex is survived by his wife, Rebecca; son, Greg Golovko (Andrea) of Manhattan Beach, CA and daughter, Natasha Golovko of Pensacola, FL; grandsons, Koa Porto (Meghan) and Maximus Golovko.

Alex had a special surprise before he died when his great grandson, Kai Benjamin Porto was born. He is also survived by his brother, George Golovko (Maria) of New Jersey.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery.
