Alfred Edwin Booth, 90, a longtime resident of Pensacola, FL died peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Ed was born in Columbus, GA on July 16, 1926. After growing up there, he attended Troy State Teachers College for two years, then transferred to Auburn University where he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. He was the first in his family to attend college. After college, Ed served as a Korean era veteran in Bethesda, MD as a part of the Army Chemical Corps. Ed married Kitty Anne Long of Phenix City, AL and they moved to Lancaster, PA when Ed was hired into the R&D Division of Armstrong where he worked until he retired. His last position was chief plant chemist at the Pensacola plant. He and Kitty were active members of the 1st Presbyterian Church in downtown Pensacola. Ed was a loving husband and father and had a wonderful sense of humor, his favorite terms of endearment being "Bean Head" and "Bone Head".
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty and mother, Mary Kidd.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Katie Booth of Birmingham, AL; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Karl Thor of Cary, NC; his grandchildren, Michael and wife Sarah Thor, Jennifer Thor and Katherine Booth and her husband Will Widman; as well as his brother, Jimmy and sister-in-law Shannon Kidd of Gulfport, MS.
A Memorial Service will be held at Beacon House at 4410 Gulf Breeze Pky, Gulf Breeze, FL, 32563 at 10am Monday, March 6, 2017.
