Obituary

Alice Franklin White, 100, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011. She was a long time resident of both Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Born in Lakeland, FL on January 14, 1911 but raised in Tennille, GA, Alice was the daughter of Samuel O. and Eva Franklin and the sister of S.O. Franklin and Eloise Bennett, all deceased. Alice was a teacher for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic School. She had been active in local garden clubs and St. Ann Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze. In January, Alice celebrated her 100th birthday with a large gathering of family and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Marco J. White, Jr and daughter, Sandra White Hurley. She is survived by her son, Marco J. White, III (Virginia) of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter, Marie White Behnke (John) of Ukiah, CA and son-in-law, Frank P. Hurley of Mobile, AL; 8 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of the Haven of Our Lady of Peace and especially those of Heritage Court for the loving care shown to mother. Visitation will be held 2-4pm Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church with a reception to immediately follow. Private Family Committal Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alice's name to the Haven of Our Lady of Peace, 1900 Summit Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
