IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice Anne
Woolam
October 31, 1934 – January 20, 2025
Alice Anne Chamberlain Woolam, a devoted mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 90, with family by her side in Virginia Beach, VA.
Alice was born on October 31, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, where she graduated from North High School as their salutatorian. She began her college education at Kent State University before marrying and embarking on a journey as a dedicated Navy wife for 26 years.
After years of moving and supporting her family through military life, Alice and her family settled in Pensacola, Florida. There, she resumed her education and completed her degree at the University of West Florida. She went on to inspire countless students during her 26-year career as a mathematics professor at Pensacola Junior College. She especially enjoyed her tenure at the Adult High School. She then volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital for over 10 years.
Alice's legacy is defined by her boundless compassion and her unwavering commitment to caring for others. She was a true "champion of the underdog," always extending her home, heart, and support to those in need, often when others would not. Her kindness and empathy touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Above all, Alice loved her family. She is survived by her son, Scott Woolam; her daughter, Pat Baumann; three grandchildren, Ashley Haveman (Daniel Haveman), Garrett Baumann (Sandra Baumann), and Cody Woolam (Rebecca Woolam); five great-grandchildren; and her niece, nephew, and extended family in Akron, OH.
Alice will be remembered for her generosity, her love of learning, incredible wit, and her fierce devotion to those she cared about. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched.
Her final resting place will be with her parents in Akron, OH, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to have contributions be made to the Epps Center in Pensacola, FL, or to your local homeless shelter or food bank, in honor of her dedication to helping others.
