Alphonse Gilchrist Condon, Jr., 76, of Pensacola entered eternal life on June 2, 2011. Al was born in Pensacola and graduated from St. Michael Catholic School and Pensacola Catholic High School. He received his bachelors degree, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University before serving as a United States Marine Corps officer. Upon graduation from University of Florida College of Law he practiced in Tampa, Florida where he primarily focused on civil litigation. He joined the law firm of Emmanuel, Sheppard, and Condon in 1965 where he distinguished himself as a premier trial lawyer during his 45 years with the firm. Al served as Special Counsel to former Governor Bob Graham. He is a past President of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, a past member of the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar, and emeritus member of The Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Als involvement in the community included service to the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee from which he received the Medal of Honor for his lifetime service to The Catholic Church. He was active with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Development Council of Pensacola Catholic High School, YMCA, Pensacola Sports Association, and the City of Pensacola Recreation Board. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Gilchrist Condon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy, five children and their spouses-Jim and Becca Condon of Atlanta, GA, Robert and Amy Condon of Singapore, Bill and Sheri Condon of Edmond, OK, Julie and David Kellen of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jenny and Byron McGarvey of Pensacola, FL and his nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary C. Anderson of Birmingham, AL, Dottie Hepworth (Bill) of Pensacola Beach, FL, his brother, Thomas F. Condon (Catie) of Pensacola, FL, and his brother-in-law, Dan Wilson of Dunnellon, FL. A Mass in Celebration of the life of Al will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm with reception to follow in the parish hall. A private burial will take place on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Barrancas National Cemetery.
