Alvin Cecil “Cecil” Edgecumbe Jr., 74, of Pensacola, passed away on May 7, 2026.

Born in Pensacola on September 3, 1951, Cecil was a lifelong resident of the community he loved so faithfully. Cecil attended Pensacola State College and was a longtime devoted member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Throughout his life, he was deeply committed to advocacy and service for the visually impaired community. He proudly served as President of the Northwest Chapter of the Florida Council of the Blind and most recently held the position of Vice President, dedicating countless hours to helping and encouraging others. Music was Cecil’s lifelong passion. He shared his love of music and entertainment through his work as a radio personality and DJ with Ears Radio, Oldies Funhouse, and other broadcasting outlets. His voice, humor, and enthusiasm brought joy to many listeners over the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Cecil “Captain Ace” Edgecumbe Sr., and his mother, Rosa Lee Levens.

Cecil is survived by his daughter, Jewel Sanchez of Naples; his grandsons, Adam Rome Sanchez and Seth Tynan Sanchez, also of Naples; and the close-knit community of the blind, where he built friendships that lasted decades.

Cecil will be remembered for his voice, his spunk, enduring love of music, and the lasting impact he made on his community and all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Chapter of the Florida Council of the Blind.
