IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Amy Findlay
Baltikenov Sullivan
April 6, 1973 – April 1, 2018
Amy was born April 6, 1973 in Norfolk, VA at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. As a Navy "brat", Amy spent her childhood in many places including the Bellview area of Pensacola, Melbourne, FL, Marina, CA, Panama, Central America, and the Northeast area of Pensacola.
She graduated from Pensacola Junior College with an AS degree in Hospitality Management. Employment included Gulf Coast Sign Company, Washington Mutual, Citi Financial, and Naval Federal Credit Union. As her health declined, she was unable to work outside of her home for the last three years. Soon after starting this new phase of her life, she asked her mom, in tears, "How do I be a housewife?" This she had never done.
Previously a member of Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, Amy was active in teaching Sunday school, assisting in the church nursery, and with special events.
In addition to loving children, Amy loved animals, especially dogs and cats of which she had many over the years. She also loved to cook for others and was known for her baked beans and pasta salads. Among her family, she was famous for making her children's birthday cakes into shapes of things they enjoyed. Once she made a "cheese ball" in the shape of a sneaker for a family event. It had black olives for eyelets and cut bell pepper for laces. It was the most delicious sneaker! Other hobbies included jewelry making, painting, and gardening when she could.
March 17, 2013, Amy and Steve Sullivan were married. They met while playing Trivia in a local establishment. You could easily see the love and light they added to each other's hearts and lives. They enjoyed having friends over for get-togethers, sporting events, and other celebrations.
Amy had a friendly and out-going nature. She could talk to anyone about anything. She was very generous of her time, offering help to others or just lending a friendly ear.
Amy is preceded in death by her grandparents and former husband, Gamzet Baltikenov.
Survivors are her two daughters, Ashley and Katarina; and her son, Randy; husband, Steve Sullivan; parents, Gary and Susan Findlay; mother-in-law, Barbara Stryker; father-in-law, Jerry Sullivan; brother, Chris Findlay (Charleen); sister, Jennifer Shackle (Rick); niece, Aly Shackle; and nephews, Zach Findlay and Sam Shackle; as well as her dog, Remy and kitten, Lambo.
Amy will be deeply missed by her family and friends and fondly remembered.
