IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann "Nancy"
Bernadette Wernet
April 23, 1928 – June 19, 2024
Ann Bernadette "Nancy" Wernet, 96, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Nancy was born on April 23, 1928, in Queens, NY to Mary and John Quinn. Growing up in Queens, NY and Long Island Beach during the Depression and later WWII greatly impacted her character. She was a strong and resilient woman, and those characteristics served her well throughout her life. She met and later married Robert Francis Wernet just after the end of the war. She often described herself as just a homemaker, but she was anything but. Bob's career took them all over the world and Nancy made the most of things wherever they landed. She was a well-known hostess, a Girl Scout leader, an active gardener, a P.E.O. sister and officer, a wife, mother, and devoted daughter. Nancy loved a good party and enjoyed making friends in each community she found herself. She once said "I have had an amazing life! Who would have imagined a tomboy from Queens, NY would have lived the life I have? Certainly, not I."
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Francis Wernet; her daughters, Mary Elizabeth Robinson and Deborah Sue Wernet; her grandson, Robert Robinson; and her great-granddaughters, Helena and Magdalene Gilliam. Survivors include her daughters, Nann Pearce, Katherine Marx, and Marcellyne Penny; her 11 grandchildren, CW Pearce, Whitney Rosenfeld, Kimberly Robinson, Corey Robinson, Regan Wynn, Haley Dicus, Victoria Gilliam, Osa Penny IV, Emily Penny, Deborah Campbell, and Gianna Penny; and her 9 great-grandchildren Evan, Miles, and Bryant Wynn, Amelia Ann and Elodie Pearce, Pearce and Robert Rosenfeld, Michael Gilliam, and Jocelyn Campbell.
