Ann Harwood Griffis, 79, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Ann was born and raised in Frederick County, MD. She graduated from St. Mary's College in St. Mary's, MD. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for a Health Care Lobbyist on Capitol Hill. Eventually she moved from Maryland to Kennesaw, GA where she worked at Dobbins AFB as a Civil Servant. She ultimately retired from Civil Service at Scott AFB around Bellville, IL. Later in retirement she decided to move to Gulf Breeze, FL to live close to the beach. She had a very special saying about where she lived and would share it with everyone…"This is just another day in Paradise!" Ann loved the beach, her favorite hangout – Paradise Grill, horses and most importantly, family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; as well as her husband, Frankie R. Griffis, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie Ann Stewart, Bonnie S. Young (Guy), Laura Lynne Nevanoja (Jari), Eric Harwood Griffis (Camille), Wanda Haynes (Jay) and Frankie Griffis, III; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Watson (Charlotte) and many other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held 1:00pm until the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Ken Griffin officiating. Graveside Service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Mark's Episcopal Cemetery in Petersville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1501 N. "Q" St., Pensacola, FL 32505.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the medical staff at the Woodlands as well as Dr. Hawkins and Dr. Pennington and their staff.
