Obituary

Ann Hayes Mancill, 57, resident of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Ann and her twin sister Nan were born on February 9, 1956 in Albertville, AL. She grew up in Crossville, AL and attended Crossville High School where she was involved in many activities and was an honor student. She attended Snead State Community College and Jacksonville State University, where she graduated with honors with a double major in accounting and computer science. Ann came to visit Pensacola after graduation and decided to become a Florida girl. She retired several years ago. Her greatest joy came from her family, particularly her young nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with them and she was very much loved by all. She was blessed with a kind and generous heart. She enjoyed working in her yard and grew beautiful roses. Ann loved participating in all Krewe of Lafitte activities with John. Mardi Gras and Fiesta of Five Flags were always favorite times of the year and they got so much enjoyment from participating in the parades and balls and have many close and dear friends in the Krewe. She was very special to all who knew her. She fought a long battle with strength and grace and will be missed daily. She is preceded in death by her father, Samuel E. Hayes of Crossville, AL. Survivors include her loving husband, John Mancill of Gulf Breeze, FL; mother, Martha Freeman Hayes of Pensacola, FL; stepdaughter, Monica (Danny) Hernandez of Houston, TX; stepson, Jason Mancill of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Andrew Gibson, Alicen Miller, and Alaina Pugh, Cassie Hernandez, Chase Mancill and Jackson Mancill; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Lynn (Richard) Thacker of Crossville, AL; sister, Susan (Bill) Naylor of Pensacola, FL; twin sister, Nan (Joe) Smith of Crossville, AL; brother, Sam Hayes of Ft. Payne, AL; nephews and nieces, Adam (April) Smith, Brian (Joy) Smith, Casey Smith, Lizzi Ragland, Jessica Hayes, Jackie Hayes, Shanna Thacker, Lucas Thacker and 8 great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Kathy Taylor and family; brother-in-law, Paul Mancill and family; brother-in-law, Charlie Mancill and family. Visitation will be held 1:00pm until a Memorial Service to begin at 3:00pm Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Mashburn officiating. Inurnment of ashes will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Barrancas National Cemetery on NAS Pensacola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America, PO Box 59486, Birmingham, AL 35259. Please be sure to note that donation is in honor of Ann Mancill. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the entire staff of Select Specialty Hospital of Pensacola, FL.
