Obituary

Ann Armour Norris, 82, of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015. Born on September 20, 1932, in Enterprise, AL, Ann grew up on her family farm. Ann began playing the piano in church at the age of 15, and this became her lifelong mission. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Alabama and played the organ at Enterprise United Methodist Church. On Valentine's Day, 1960, she married Floyd F. Norris, Jr. in Enterprise, AL. While raising her children, she taught private piano lessons in her home and music at East Hill Christian School. Ann was an active member of Gadsden Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and served as senior organist there for 38 years. She rarely missed a practice or service; it was her mission and her joy to play music in the church. She was honored to play piano at literally dozens of weddings and funerals over the years, and was the accompanist for the AmSouth Zingers as well. Ann found joy in many areas of her life, including watching the Atlanta Braves and University of Alabama football games. Meeting her friends at Cracker Barrel each Friday morning was the highlight of her week. She cherished her family and was a fiercely loyal wife and friend. Preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Floyd F. Norris, Jr.; parents, William Rush and Alline Armour; and brothers, Bill Amour and Ted Armour. Survivors include son, Dr. Floyd Kent Norris (Tammy) of Auburn, AL; daughter, Mary E. Davis (Brian) of Acworth, GA; and four grandchildren, Chase Eby, Taylor Norris, Karlie Norris, and Aline Davis. Visitation will be held at 12:30pm until a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00pm Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Rami Owera, Dr. Irfan Ahmed, and the Infusion Center staff at The Woodlands for the exceptional care they provided Ann. They also wish to thank Frank, Peggy, & Janet Pilcher for their loving support through Ann's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, 901 E. Gadsden St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
