IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne Staley
Bunch
June 4, 1923 – March 27, 2023
An artist, an avid swimmer, a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Anne Bunch, age 99 died in her home Monday, March 27, 2023.
Born in Richmond, KS, Anne was the youngest of three daughters. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In November 1946 in New Orleans, LA, she married Morgan W. Bunch who preceded her in death in 2018. They were married for 72 years. Together they had four children, seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. While living in Metairie, LA, Anne was the Chair of the Personal Faith and Family of the Women of the Church for the Presbytery and a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church. After moving to Pensacola, FL, she, and Morgan joined Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, and a class designed for teachers and prospective teachers for church schools. Anne and Morgan worked to make missions a high priority at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Anne was a camp counselor at Dogwood Acres, the Presbytery camp. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola.
After moving to Pensacola in 1972, Anne joined the Quayside Gallery, a gallery in downtown Pensacola and began to paint in earnest. In the art community, painting on location is called painting in "plain air". This was always her preference and when they traveled abroad, she took an easel and supplies in a golf bag. It was great fun for Anne and Morgan. Anne painted watercolors of churches and cathedrals in Great Britain, Europe, Russia, along with pictures at home of Pensacola Beach, and homes in Pensacola. When visiting her daughter in Ohio, Morgan and Anne stayed on a sailboat in a marina at Put-In-Bay, Ohio, an island in Lake Erie. Many stately old houses became the subject of her watercolors.
A Memorial Service will be held at Azalea Trace in the auditorium Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 4 pm, with Reverend Dr. Joan Wooten and Reverend Frank Beall officiating. A reception will follow with some of Anne's favorite treats. All are invited to attend, and if you have a watercolor done by Anne, please feel free to bring it to share.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen, donating online or mail P.O. Box 1303, Pensacola, FL 32596 or the Presbyterian Church, USA Hunger Program.
We would like to thank all the nurses in Oakbridge Terrace at Azalea Trace, and the Home Health Department at Azalea Trace. Martha Abney and the other certified nursing assistants; as well as coordinators Lisa and Doris of the Home Health Department at Azalea Trace who did their best to make every day a good day in Anne's last year of life. They all went above and beyond, accompanying Anne to the swimming pool and hot tub; making her bacon just right for her morning BLT sandwich, as well as making sure she was comfortable every day. Emerald Coast Hospice provided valuable support as well.
