Anne Ackerson Duvall died Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Pensacola, FL. She was born on October 8, 1923 in Pelzer, SC, the daughter of Constance Pelzer and Frederick Layton Ackerson. Mrs. Duvall graduated from the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., attended Wellesley College for two years, and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, Anne participated in women's activities and in Sunday School. She enjoyed social groups such as her garden club and her sewing club. In her later years as a resident of Azalea Trace, one of her greatest joys was entertaining friends at lunch or dinner. Anne's husband, James Wilson Duvall, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, James Wilson Duvall, Jr. (Dee Hampton) of Hanahan, SC; 3 grandchildren, Mary Castelan and Angela Scott of Hanahan, SC, Gary Ramsey of Greenwich, OH; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception in the church parlor.
