Anne Perry Preston Lett passed peacefully in her sleep while being comforted by her family on October 28, 2014. Anne was born on December 22, 1929 in Providence, RI. She grew up in Rehoboth, MA, attending Gordon and Lincoln Schools, then completed a BA in history at Smith College in Northampton, MA. Anne was married to John Blake Lett of Selma, AL April 3, 1954, and they moved to Pensacola, FL in 1956. He preceded her in death, January 16, 2000. After raising her three children to school age, she worked as a school librarian for the Escambia County School System, primarily at Ferry Pass Middle and Pine Forest High Schools. During this time she received her Masters in Library Science from FSU. Anne was well-known for her dedication as a volunteer with the First Presbyterian Church, Pensacola Public Library, and multiple other community organizations. She loved animals, traveling and her support for the elderly was tireless. Gifted with an insatiable curiosity, she delighted in continuously seeking to increase her knowledge on a myriad of topics/subjects. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Thomas Winston Lett (Rita), Margaret Preston Rivers ("Chip"), and Kathleen Blake Aldridge (Aaron); six grandchildren: Julia Anna Cornish (Craig), Timothy John Witt, Anne Frances Shanholtz (Michael), Spencer Orian Witt (Amy), Preston Anthony Blake Lett, Abigail Blake Aldridge; and three great-grandchildren: Talfryn, Brynmor, and Jackson. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Margaret "Peggy" Preston Speckman (Carroll); their three children, Mark, Jennifer, and Sara; and their many grandchildren. She maintained close contact with her first cousins (nee Branch) and their families, Cecily von Gemmingen, Linda Eggeman, Audrey Smith, and Judy Hart (deceased). Many other relatives and close friends will dearly miss her. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm Monday, November 3, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Frank Beall and Dr. Randy Jackson officiating. A reception will follow in the church parlor.
