Arlan Earl Scarbrough passed away March 25, 2012. Arlan was born on October 5, 1936 in Lumberton, MS. He was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps. and after his active duty he served in the Marine Corps Reserve to complete his 20 years. He retired from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel. He graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with an accounting degree. He continued his education while in the Marine Corps at East Carolina University with a degree in Business Administration. After serving his active duty he went on to work for Mississippi Power Company and later was transferred to Gulf Power Company, both companies a subsidiary of the Southern Company System. He was Vice President of Gulf Power Company. He retired from Gulf Power Company in 2000. Arlan served his community and his church. He served on the Finance Committee and was a Director of a Sunday School class at Olive Baptist Church. He also served on many boards as a volunteer in the Pensacola community. His parents, Earl H. and Fredna E. Scarbrough; one brother, Ronald H. Scarbrough and a daughter, Angela S. Breland preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife, Helen Pugh Scarbrough; one son, Richard A. Scarbrough (Maria); two daughters, Arlene S. O'Neal (Jay) and Janene S. King (Chris); two stepdaughters, Gigi F. Collins (James) and Ginger F. Dyess (Bill); two sisters Darlene Pinson (Joe) and Sandra Spears (Bill). 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive him. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 5-7 P.M. at Harper Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32504. Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 10 A.M. at Olive Baptist Church, with Dr. Ted Traylor officiating. There will be a private burial service for the family.
