Arlene Mae Drier, age 92, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Born January 13, 1934, to Clarence and Letta Brown, Arlene married her childhood sweetheart, Melvin F. Drier, beginning a life together that took them to many places. During Melvin's military career, they lived in and traveled to places including Canada, New York City, and Hawaii before eventually making their home in Pensacola.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Melvin, as well as her brother, Jim, and her sisters, Joyce and Norma.

Arlene was the mother of Jerry and Sharon, grandmother to Wesley and Natalie, and great-grandmother to Evan, Londyn, and Reagan.

Family was an important part of Arlene's life, and she was always supportive of those she loved, offering encouragement and being there for them throughout the years.

Arlene treasured the many close friendships she formed throughout her life. She shared a special bond with her dear friend Glenda, whom she considered a sister in every way. She also cherished a wonderful group of friends who considered Arlene their “adopted cousin.” For 26 years, they gathered to play cards, share meals, talk, laugh, reminisce, and enjoy the kind of friendship that becomes family.

Arlene also enjoyed the simple pleasures of home. She loved spending time in her backyard, especially watching the hummingbirds. And she had a special enthusiasm for pressure washing—she was happiest when she could find something that needed cleaning.

At 92, Arlene remained spirited and feisty, facing life on her own terms and with concern for the people around her. She wanted to make certain that things were taken care of and that those she loved would be all right.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
