IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlys Dale
Reed Chapdelaine
May 27, 1934 – February 27, 2022
Arlys Dale Reed Chapdelaine, 86, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
Aryls Dale Reed was born in Minneapolis, MN to Jack and Glady Reed. She married Jerrold Chapdelaine while attending university and began their life in the Navy. Arlys raised three children, Jenny, Michael, and Chuck while Lieutenant JG Chapdelaine was shipboard and flying for the Navy. After 24 years of military service, the family settled down in Pensacola, FL where Arlys earned her Nursing certification and then her Masters Degree in Recreational Health Therapy. She server the ill, disadvantaged, and special needs children, adults, and aged of Pensacola for 20 years and finally retired to tend the gardens of her home that she purchased and built on her own. Her final years were spent contemplating life, her relationship with God in the quiet solitude of the sanctuary she made. Here, she found the fullness of her artistic nature and learned to paint religious icons in the traditional ways of the old masters. The work of her hands and spirit live on in the homes of her children as these icons, eternal tributes to her life of service, quest for peace, and love of the Divine Creator.
Arlys is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Gladys Reed; sister, Jeanie Kusnerek and nephew, John Kusnerek.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Chapdelaine Thompson; sons, Michael Chapdelaine and Chuck Chapdelaine and niece Kathy Kusnerek.
