Arnetta Grace Holifield, 77, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.
She was born on September 28, 1948, to Lawrence and Arnetta Patane in Galveston, TX, Arnetta's life was a testament to faith, love, and selfless devotion to those around her.
A proud graduate of Catholic High School in 1966, Arnetta went on to marry the love of her life, Robert Holifield, on September 14, 1968. Together, guided by their unwavering faith in the Lord, they built a beautiful life and shared 57 years of marriage filled with joy, compassion, and cherished memories. Their enduring partnership was a beacon of love and commitment to all who knew them.
Arnetta dedicated 31 years of her professional life to Pensacola Junior College, retiring in 2011. Her career was marked by her tireless work ethic and her genuine care for those she served. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Arnetta's true passion was her family. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones, nurturing her garden, and extending a helping hand to others. Her kindness, warmth, and generosity touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
Arnetta Grace Holifield's life was a beautiful reflection of God's love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace in the presence of her King.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Patane.
Arnetta is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Robert; her family who were the heart of her world, Patti Payne (Shannon), Christina Mason (Stevie), and Bobby Holifield; beloved grandchildren who she cherished and adored, Richard Hicks (Amanda), Jessica Wilkenson (Matt), Brianna Payne, Josie Woodley (Issac), Tyler Holifield, Jayson Holifield, Stevie Mason, Jr., Lanie Mason, Westin Bradshaw, and Rhett Holifield; and her five precious great grandchildren, RJ Hicks, Coen Wilkenson, Montana Woodley, Lanie Woodley, and Callum Wilkenson; siblings, Salvatore Patane and Joann Shurden as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a wide circle of friends and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with a Rosary beginning at 5:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Friday, October 17, 2025, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church with the Very Reverand Joesph P. Callipare, celebrant. A graveside committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Stevie Mason, Sr., Stevie Mason, Jr., Richard Hicks, RJ Hicks, Shannon Payne, Peter Shurden, Tyler Holifield, and Jayson Holifield.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Holifield, Richard Holifield, Tommy Holifield, David Holifield, Salvatore Patane, Butch Eilersten, and Johnny Ferraro.
Special Thanks to HCA Florida West Hospital, especially Hannah Brock who went above and beyond to care for Arnetta and Emerald Coast Hospice for their care and compassion. Also, her neighbor Shirley, whom she loved dearly.
