Arthur Hargest Brown, 87, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010. Arthur was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was born April 27, 1923 in Pensacola, FL. After serving in the US Navy, Arthur was employed by Civil Service at NAS Pensacola for over 37 years. A lifelong resident of the area and a friend to many, he was a member of St. Christophers Episcopal Church. He was also a member of several organizations including the Masonic Lodge, Karnival Kavaliers, and past president of the Krewe of Lafitte. Arthur enjoyed hunting, golf, and the company of neighbors, friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Grace Brown; brothers, George and Angelo Brown; sister, Marjorie Sneed; and grandson, Wayne Brown Mumphrey. Arthur is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Clary Brown; daughters, Eleta Brown Duffy of Gulf Breeze, FL and Vicki Brown Mumphrey (J. Wayne) of Slidell, LA; brother, Louis C. Brown (Carole) of Pensacola; sister, Joyce Edmondson (Ronnie) of Mobile, AL; and sister-in-laws, Faye Fulghum (Kenneth) and Elaine Johnson. He will also be fondly remembered by five grandchildren; Kelli D. Filardi (Dan) of Gulf Breeze, Kathryn D. Smith (Durward) and Dennis M. Duffy, Jr., both of Pensacola, Claude S. Mumphrey of Decatur, MS and Sarah M. Piza (Maurice) of Slidell, LA and three great-grandchildren, Daniel Arthur, Jake and Caroline. Graveside Service will be held 11:00am Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Bayview Memorial Park with Rev. Fr. Michael Moore officiating.
