Jim "Banzai" McClain, Jr., USAF (ret.) was called home February 27, 2019. He was born December 10, 1953 in Nashville, TN to the late James, Sr. and Mikiko McClain. James was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and entrepreneur. He served as an Aircraft Loadmaster during Operations Eagle Claw and Urgent Fury. Jim was awarded the Airmans Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, AF Commendation medal with one device, AF Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and three devices, Combat Readiness Medal with one device, AF Good Conduct Medal with five devices, National Defense Service Medal with one device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. His interests included aviation history, art, photography, writing and editing. Jim's other specialties were special operations consulting, and advising disabled veterans volunteering at the Bridgewater Center.
Memorial visitation will be from 11:00am until the service begins at 12:00pm, Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola FL 32504. Inurnment will follow at 1:30pm at Barrancas National Cemetery (Shelter-B) with full U.S. Air Force honors. The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to take part in the service.
