Barbara E. Berna, 82, of Pensacola, FL passed away Friday, December 26, 2014. She was born on October 16, 1932 in Hico, TX. Barbara graduated from Hico High School, and then attended North Texas State College in Denton, TX. She was known by all as a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Raye and mother to her three children, Paul, Rochelle and Yvonne. She was always eager to help others, most often by knitting baby layettes and blankets for needy families and children throughout her lifetime. Barbara was an active member of the USMC Enlisted Wives Club of Albany, GA, local knitting groups, the Pensacola Computer Club, and numerous bowling leagues in both Albany and Pensacola. She is preceded in death by her parents, JP and Rilla Rodgers; her husband of 61 years, Sgt. Maj. Donald Raye Berna, USMC Ret.; her brother, Joseph Rodgers and her sister, Priscilla Petsick. Survivors include her son, Major Paul Berna, USMC Ret. (Linda) of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Donna Rochelle Sternik (Kenneth) of Saucier, MS and R. Yvonne Berna (Christopher Borelli) of Roselle Park, NJ; sisters-in-law, Bernice Proffitt of Granbury, TX and Joyce Abel of Hico, TX. Visitation will be held 2-4pm Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Graveside Service will be held at 10:15am Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Barrancas National Cemetery with Chaplain Ken Griffin officiating. Special thanks go to Bernice Proffitt, the Ledbetter family (Bruce, Beth, Lynn, Mary and Chuck), and of course the entire Frazee family for their loving friendship and warm devotion to the entire Berna family.
