Obituary

This dedication is long overdue and I'm sorry; I will say that it all unfolded the way it was supposed to and I (her only surviving daughter) did the best I could with the visions and hopes that I would have done this tribute sooner but life and illness/treatment/recovery of my husband's cancer took my attention away in the moment until now...so, this one's for you mom!!

Our hearts were broken when Barbara Broxson Corwin Morin left her body on July 26th, 2016, at the young age of 77. I personally am blessed and grateful to have had a female role model in my life that represented strength, resilience, joy and a zest for life that was felt by all that knew her. She was a pioneer in the 60's when she was the first woman sales person in an all-male world and she prevailed beyond all of their hopes for her to fail...that was the beginning of an adventure only she could create in a style all her own. She took her young daughters to her home of Gulf Breeze, FL in 1975 and began to write a new chapter surrounded by her family. She thrived and made a name for herself in a small fishbowl where she was noted to be a big fish. Life brought battles with breast cancer twice over 15 years (first diagnosis at age 43 and second one at age 58) but she never let that circumstance stop her from living large every single day until her life and spirit were deeply affected by the death of her youngest daughter, Lisa Wiscombe, who lost her battle with cancer in 2013. The sadness deepened when her husband, Merlin Morin, passed away unexpectedly 15 months later. After those 2 losses, Barbara's light dimmed and never returned to the vibrancy she was known for her entire life. Even as she had a small nuclear family, we are all full of life and have a zest for more sweet memories made with those who matter in our lives today.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Gina Simpson, husband Dennis and their adult son, Ian.  Her daughter, Lisa left in her passing 3 beautiful daughters, LaGia Creamer, husband Cody and her 2 children/young adults, Zoë and Jaeden Armitage, Olivia Wiscombe and her long time partner and fiancé Shelly Walls and Alicia Fye, and her 3 growing, vibrant young boys Kamden, Braeden and Landen. We are also fortunate to have experienced her large family of 5 brothers and 5 sisters (yep, 11 kids) of which 3 sisters and 2 brothers are survived with their significant others and still live in the Panhandle of Florida. We are a large family that continues to grow as we are spread across the miles, over land and sea, like seeds released from a beautiful flower named Annie Broxson, the matriarch of our family tree, who without Bart Broxson none of this would be told.

Thank you for loving Barbara, also known as Baba; her light is missed but we know that she is surrounded by those that left before her and that we also hold near and dear. We pray that her legacy stays alive in your hearts and that your memories of her are special because Barbara was an amazing woman, daughter, sister, friend, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. May God Bless You and Keep You!
