IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara B.
Cowart
April 7, 1937 – June 7, 2020
Barbara Marie Cowart (Aunt Barbara, Aunt B, Babs, Bobbie), left this earth on angel's wings on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the age of 83 years old.
She was born in Philadelphia. PA on April 7, 1937. She retired from Ingall's Shipyard in Pascagoula in 1996 ("you know you gotta work") as a material planner and relocated to Pensacola in 2004. While in Mississippi, she was a devoted volunteer for Camp Bluebird Cancer Camp and was a member of the Dixie Dazzler's Mardi Gras Krewe. Barbara loved Mardi Gras and helping others any chance that she got.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar "Red" Cowart; father, William J. Brown and mother, Bertha Roberta Heine.
When she moved to Pensacola, she bought her first home that she loved, it had a dishwasher, central heat and air conditioning, and a washer and dryer! She very much enjoyed travelling, cruising, movies, casino's ("the boats") getting dressed up, and swimming with her Pensacola friends. She was a very devoted Sister and Aunt to "the girls" Linda, Jennifer, and Melissa, whom she loved so very much. She loved Dolphins and it was evident everywhere in her home. (It was like a dolphin breeding ground!) If anyone was looking for dolphins during the pandemic and couldn't find one, just ask us.
Survivors include: her sister. Linda Davidson, Atlanta; GA her niece, Jennifer (Greg) Henley, twins, Ben and Kate Henley, Atlanta, GA; niece, Melissa and (Thom) Keener, Austin Keener, Pensacola, FL; brother in law, Fred Williams and brother. Harry Heine (Donna), Pensacola, FL.
Like family were Cheryl Rippstein; Ryan Rippstein (Adrian), Seminole, AL; Jeannie Ray (Luther), Pascagoula, MS; and Lisa (Shannon) Crotts, Pensacola, FL. She also leaves her sweet companion Abby, her precious dog that made her last years the best.
A special thanks to Donna and sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors at West Florida Hospital 2 North: Stephanie, Francis and Herman for helping ease her last days with dignity and thoughtfulness. Dr. Alshurieki, Dr. Kevin Jones, Dr. Scott and Dr. Bennett and West Florida Emergency room physician Dr. Ryan Seaman.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date, trust that dolphins will be involved!
