Barbara Maud Eddins Wenner, resident of Pensacola, 92, died Saturday, January 8, 2022.
Born in Frisco City, AL, on May 1, 1929, to the late John W. Eddins, Sr. and Laurie Kennard Eddins. Barbara graduated from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) with a BS in Home Economics in 1950. She married Robert B. Wenner, MD, in 1959 before moving permanently to Pensacola in 1960 to teach in the public schools. She later received an MS in Education from UWF.
She was a charter faculty member of Pine Forest High School when it opened in 1975, and a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola for over 60 years.
Barbara belonged to many civic organizations including the Fidelus Nu chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Colonial Dames XVII Century, the Magna Carta, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Meriwether Society, the Delta Zeta Alumni chapter, and the Escambia County Retired Teachers' Association.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Wenner MD; her siblings, Carolyn Van Hoose, John W. Eddins, Jr., Laurie Thrash, Hope Glover, Jeanie Ruth Morris, and their spouses; as well as her nephews, Mark Schuyler Van Hoose, Bryan Eddins, and cousin, Letty Lou Albritton.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Burton and her husband, Frank; granddaughters, Jane and Ginna; her special adopted sister, Elisabeth Anne Lambert; her special nephew, Norman Glover; many other nieces, nephews, and her cousin, Rev. Gene Carpenter.
Memorial service will be held 10:30am Friday, January 21, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 33 E. Gregory St., Pensacola, FL. Live Streaming of the service will be on the church's YouTube site ( https://youtu.be/kiBjYCfukpw ). A graveside celebration of life is planned for Barbara's birthday, May 1, 2022, at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Frisco City, AL. Please contact Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel for specifics.
