Barbara Barnes Harris, 81, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on February 13, 1942, in Pensacola, FL to Kenneth and Frances Shanks Barnes. Barbara graduated from UWF with a BA in Social Work and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University. During her career she taught at PJC Adult High; Social Worker Children Home Society; worked various counselor roles at Florida HRS, including Senior Counselor Juvenile Justice Center and Licensing Counselor District One Office and finished her working career as an Adolescent and Family Counselor at Lutheran Services of Florida.

Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Cecil R. Harris.

She is survived by her brother, Lee Harris (Ione); sisters, Terri Barnes Smith (Norman) and Jeannie Harris Carson (Robert); daughter, Cynthia Szymanski (Stephen) of Bethlehem, PA; son, Matthew Harris of Milton, FL; daughter, Mary Kortz (Jeff) of Pensacola, FL; her grandchildren, James Harris, Mary and Christopher Szymanski, Emily and Nicholas Kortz; great granddaughter, Mia Savino; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 1:30pm until a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A private family interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park.
