Barbara Johnson Kennedy, 69, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011. Barbara was born in Williamson, WV and grew up in Ashland, KY. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1959 and the University of Kentucky in 1963. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and beloved member of the Tuff Ten. She met the love of her life, Paul, in 1967. They were married on the island of Malta on March 16, 1968. Barbara and Paul were blessed with three daughters, Laura, Suzanne, and Jennifer and two granddaughters, Kate and Emily. Barbara enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her granddaughters. She was full of love and was always the life of the party. She will be missed by numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis T. Johnson and Myrtle McCoy Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Paul Kennedy of Pensacola; 3 daughters, Laura Kennedy of Redding, CA, Suzi Smith (Lt Col Matt Smith) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Maj (S) Jennifer Kennedy of Newport News, VA; granddaughters, Kate and Emily Smith of Fort Walton Beach, FL; brother, Kenn Johnson (Janet) of Mount Sterling, KY. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Monday, October 3, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Nixon celebrant. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163. The family would like to express a special thanks to the caring staff of the Intensive Care Unit at West Florida Hospital.
