Barry Edward Hudspeth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and faithful servant, his life was marked by service to his country, his church, and his community.
Born in Pearsall, TX, and raised in Columbia, MO, he attended the University of Missouri on an ROTC scholarship, earning a degree in English and a commission as a United States Navy officer. He completed flight training in Pensacola, FL, earning his Wings of Gold as a Naval Aviator. He flew the H-3 Sea King with HS-8 “Eightballers” and later served as a flight instructor in the TH-57. After leaving active duty as a Lieutenant, he continued in the Navy Reserve and retired as a Commander.
Following his military service, he earned a graduate degree in accounting from the University of West Florida and worked in various home health organizations. He also devoted time to teaching and mentoring others.
A member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola for more than 50 years, he faithfully served in the choir, Samaritan Hands, as a deacon, and as a Sunday morning greeter.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn; his infant daughter, Megan; his parents, Clara and Samuel; his parents-in-law, Miriam and Ray Malone; and his brothers, Bruce and Brian.
He is survived by his son, Brett (Amanda), and daughter, Collyn (Robbie); six grandchildren: Haylee, Blake, Saradha, Sydney Grace, Abby, and Camp; one great-grandchild, Ryker; and a host of beloved choir members, church family, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held 9:00am until a Memorial Service begins at 10:00am Friday, February 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Pleitz Chapel with Dr. Dave Snyder officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Pensacola Music Ministry, 500 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
