IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barry Neal
Montgomery
August 23, 1952 – March 25, 2020
Barry Neal Montgomery, 67, died on March 25, 2020 in Birmingham, AL, after a brief illness.
Barry was born on August 23, 1952, to John W. and Carolyn Betty Wilson Montgomery in Pensacola, FL. Barry graduated from Escambia High School in 1970 and attended PJC and then worked for Frisco Railroad/Burlington Northern from 1971 to the mid-1990s. He later worked on offshore supply ships out of Louisiana, repairing automobile interiors, and as a self-employed handyman.
The greatest joy of Barry's life was as a sponsor and friend in the local Pensacola Narcotics Anonymous group. He was a member for more than 35 years and sponsored countless people in their personal battles with addiction. He dedicated immeasurable time to his NA family, and in the end, they saw him through his final illness. Special thanks to his friend Phillip Foster, who tirelessly helped Barry during his stay at UAB.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one son, John Wesley Montgomery; a brother, Charles "Clay" Montgomery; a sister, Marsha W. Montgomery; niece, Angela Clark (George); nephews, Christopher Montgomery (Lisa) and Ian S. Montgomery; a granddaughter; two great-nephews and one great-niece.
Because of social distancing orders due to the Coronavirus, no memorial is planned at this time.
