On Monday, September 9, 2013, Ben L. Davis, Jr. peacefully made his transition to Heaven surrounded by his beloved family. Mr. Davis, a native of Pensacola, was born on August 29, 1921. As a young man Ben joined the Army to serve his country in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Pensacola Junior College before beginning a long career in Real Estate. Ben was well known through-out Escambia and Santa Rosa counties as a Broker, Contractor and Developer for 50 plus years. Some of his developments include Oakfield Acres, Mackey Cove and Miller Point. Ben was an avid gardener who enjoyed giving away the fruits of his labor. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known for his special seafood gumbo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben L. and Flossie A. Davis; his brothers, William A. Davis and John E. Davis; and his sister, Faye A. Davis. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean T. Davis; his children and their spouses, Marie Ribolla, Margaret Miller, Lawrence R. (Charlene) Davis, Gregory B. (Lois) Davis, Victoria D. (Larry) Barnard and Monica L. (Gary) Daughtery; 15 loving and devoted grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and their spouses; Robert E. (Marilyn) Davis, Charles E. (Sandra) Davis and Thomas H. (Sue) Davis and they all have a sister named Emma Jean (Davis) Redding. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 2:00pm Friday, September 13, 2013 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers are grandsons; Scot Ribolla, Gary Miller, Larry Davis, Daniel Davis, Nicholas Barnard and Aaron Daughtery. Honorary Pallbearers are long time friends, Thomas Brown and Reynolds Atkins. The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Covenant Hospice, and especially to Ben's favorite nurse, Roxanne.
