IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernard "Bernie"
Glenn Weimer
January 25, 1956 – January 27, 2021
Bernard "Bernie" Glenn Weimer, an Environmental Consultant and a long-time resident of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the age of 65.
Bernie is survived his wife, Cynthia Algood Weimer; and his three children, Jon Bernard Weimer, Zachary Lee Weimer, and Ian Alexander Weimer; sisters, Sandra Catherine Bridgett, Patricia Ann Weimer-Wright, and Gina Marie Pimentel.
Bernie was born in Washington D.C. on January 25, 1956 to Virginia Lea Kienhofer Weimer and Bernard Lee Weimer. He grew up in Waldorf, MD and went to Charles County Community College before moving to Pensacola and graduating from the University of West Florida in 1983 with a Master of Science Degree in Biology. While attending UWF, he met his future wife, Cindy. They were later married on July 26, 1986. On July 23, 1996, he welcomed his first-born son; and on April 6, 2000, he welcomed his beautiful twin boys.
Bernie was not only a loving husband and father. He was also an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors and the blue-green waters of Pensacola Beach. He was known to share his excitement with his sons while on the boat watching the Blue Angels fly over each year. He was an innovative woodworker and problem-solver who found new ways to interact with the world around him. He would often stay up at night to watch the full moon rise and hear the owls hoot! His home-cooked Maryland-style crab cakes were only one of his many fresh seafood specialties that he would bring to the dinner table. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all others who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Highway 90E, Pensacola, FL 32503 on February 4 at 1:00pm. Jeff Spooneybarger of First Baptist Church Gulf Breeze will officiate.
A special thanks to Dr. Evaldas Giedrimas and his team, Dr. George B. Antonious, and Jerusha Winkler of Fresenius Kidney Care in Gulf Breeze for their support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
