Obituary

Bernard Allen "Bernie" Netzer, Sr., 91, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Bernie was born on August 6, 1932, in Clear Lake, IA, at his family home during the great depression. Bernie served four years in the US Navy during Korea and Vietnam conflict. He then went to work for civil service as an electrical engineer and received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a master electrician and started his own side business, Custom Electric. He dabbled in Real Estate and after retirement was in partnership with his son at Reef Scapes Inc. Bernie enjoyed his family, church, fishing, and spending time at our cabin on Lake Nokomis in Wisconsin. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Lee McDonald, on September 15, 1951, in Missouri. They had four children, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, Bob & Marge Netzer; his cherished wife, Marilyn Netzer; and his beloved daughter, Marcia Reynolds.

Survivors include his daughters, Monica Tolbert (Garry) of Pensacola, FL, Mariann Taylor (Jerry) of Milton, FL; son, Bernard Allen Netzer, Jr. (Jennifer) of Pensacola, FL; son in law, Steven Reynolds of Pensacola, FL; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until the Funeral Service begins at 2:00pm Monday, June 3, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park with military honors.

Active Pallbearers will be Bernard Allen Netzer, Jr., Garry Tolbert, Jerry Taylor, Sr., Jerry Taylor, Jr., Clinton Taylor, and Brendon Tolbert.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Steve Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pensacola Humane Society ( www.pensacolahumane.org )
