Obituary

Bernice Elizabeth Kimbrough, 83, went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2020.

She was born December 18, 1936, in Pensacola, FL to the late Ernest Sr. and Ethleen Waldrop, and was one of 14 children.

Bernice, also known as Niecee, by her close friends and family, was a native of Pensacola. She married her husband Junior Kimbrough, on November 17, 1962.

Bernice was a member of Leonard Street Church of Christ and loved worshiping and serving the Lord.

Over the years, Bernice worked at Hardees making biscuits; she ran the office in her husband's roofing company, and later retired as a homemaker. She also enjoyed babysitting for family as she had a heart for children.

Bernice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending time together so much that she took charge in planning the family reunions. Bernice had a heart of gold and was the glue that held the family together.

Bernice was also a race fan. She enjoyed going to the go-kart track and the local circle track to watch her family race. She also loved watching the nascar races on TV.

Bernice had a lot of talents. She loved sewing, cooking, and baking. It brought her great joy to do these things for others. She was always baking cakes for birthdays and other special occasions. Bernice knew her recipes by heart and could recite them by memory.

Bernice also loved to write. She was well known for her beautiful poems. She was such an excellent writer that several of her poems were published.

In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in death by her son Michael (Mike) Blum; sisters, Margie Waldrop and Ruby Williams, and brothers, Rayfield, James, Bobby, David, Gene, Rocky and Percy Waldrop.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Junior Kimbrough; her daughter, June Perry; sons William (Bill) Blum and his wife Opal, Dean Kimbrough and his wife Lee Ann, and  daughter-n-law Debbie Blum who was married to the late Michael (Mike) Blum; her grandchildren, William Dennis (Deke) Blum and wife Alicia, Devin Perry, James Kimbrough, Melissa Whisnant and husband Adam, Makayla Blum, and honorary grandchild Terry Boroff; and her great grandchildren D.J. (Deke JR) Blum, Gabriel Blum, Matthew Blum, Will Blum, Maria Blum, Bella Blum, Victor Blum and Roland Whisnant; her brothers Ernest Waldrop Jr (Sonny) and his wife Pauline, Willard W. Waldrop and his wife Joyce, Lloyd Waldrop and his wife Jenny; and her sister Linda Lister and her husband Lloyd (Bossie) …….and her special Granddog "Angel". Bernice also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 12:30 pm until the memorial service begins at 1:30 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial to immediately follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wayne Emmons, John Heflyn, Tim Rigby, Robert Suarez, Adam Waldrop, and Jarod Waldrop

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her home health nurse Sue Booska for her loving care and support over the last few years and the wonderful caregivers at Fresenius Kidney Care North Pensacola.
