Bernice L. Smith, 94, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Bernice was born in Uriah, AL on February 2, 1921 to John Travis and Panny Upton Lambert. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Punchy", "Neicie" and "Bunny". She married the love of her life, Robert Samuel "Bob" Smith in Pensacola, FL. She worked for over 30 years at Taylor Hardware Company. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, J.T., Travis, O.C., Mac, Ray, Mary Harrison and Ruth Jernigan. She is survived by her daughter, Fran Smith; cousins, Faye Mathers of Creola, AL, Mary Frances Lancaster (Ralph) of Repton, AL; nieces, Delores Willis of Waterbury, CT, Ferne Lambert of Saddle River, NJ, Dottie Harrison of Incline Village, NV, Petti Lambert of Pearl River, NY; nephews, Raymond Lambert of Franklin, AL, Donnie Lambert of Fredricksburg, VA, Dale Jernigan of Mobile, AL, Dennis Jernigan of Milton, FL; great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Service will be held 10:00am Friday, July 31, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Bayview Memorial Park with Rev. Ken Griffin officiating. Three words that would sum up Bernice's life would be family, sisters and gardening. Her favorite saying was "Nothing beats a trial but a failure (to try)".
