Beth Ann
Bailey
August 25, 1959 – October 31, 2024
Beth Ann Bailey, 65, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family after a courageous two-week battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on August 25, 1959, to William "Max" and Ann Forbis in Huntsville, AL, Beth was a dedicated educator and cherished friend. Following her graduation from Huntsville High School in 1977, she pursued her passion for teaching by earning a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University in 1980. Continuing her commitment to education, she completed her Master of Arts in Special Education at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1982 and secured her certification in Elementary Education from the University of West Florida in Pensacola in 1987.
In 1982, drawn by her love for the beach, Beth relocated to Pensacola, where she began a rewarding 40-year career with the Escambia County School District. Devoted to her students, she worked tirelessly as an ESE Resource Teacher, teaching at elementary charter schools, DJJ sites, and even the Escambia County Jail. Her dedication extended to teaching self-contained emotional handicapped classes and serving as an ESE Intervention Specialist at both elementary and high school levels.
A captivating chapter of her life began in 1983 when she joined the crew of Shamrock, a J-24 sailboat, for the Dauphin Island race. It was there she met her future husband, Butch, and their immediate connection grew into a beautiful partnership celebrated over 40 years of marriage.
Beth is the proud mother of three children: Catherine (Terrell), Spencer (Jackie), and Whitney, and a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren: Tucker, Collier, Chandler Grace Tillery, and McKinley Bailey. Beth was a woman whose kindness, grace, and class touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. With a great sense of humor and an infectious spirit, she made every gathering a celebration of joy and warmth. Beth had a true passion for hosting and decorating, transforming her spaces into stunning settings that embodied her vibrant personality and attention to detail. Her home was a sanctuary for friends and children alike, offering a welcoming environment where laughter and acceptance flourished.
Beth's influence extended far beyond her immediate circle; many sought solace in her presence during challenging times, appreciating her compassionate nature. She was an active member of Olive Baptist Church, where her faith and love for Jesus were evident in her actions and interactions with others. Beth lived out her beliefs with grace, inspiring those around her to embrace love and kindness. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she found fulfillment in pampering her grandchildren with thoughtful gifts that reflected their unique personalities. Her legacy of love and resilience will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
Beth is preceded in death by her parents, William "Max" and Ann Forbis, her in-laws, Clyde and Jeanette Bailey.
She is survived by her loving husband Butch, her children, grandchildren, and her dear cousin, Jim Lewis (Lisa).
