Obituary

Elizabeth Jost "Beth" St. Clair, 72, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Beth was born on January 13, 1953, to Lydia McGee and John Jost in Birmingham, AL where she was raised and attended John Carrol High. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1975 and later the University of West Florida. Beth worked as a librarian at the Universities of Alabama and Florida, later as a special education teacher for young children with Escambia County schools. In retirement, she volunteered with Pensacola Children's Home, Sacred Heart Children's Hospital and the Wee Read Early Literacy Program. She loved books and appreciated the arts in all forms. She was never critical or judgmental of others and was known for her patience. She was unconditionally loving and lived her faith.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas St. Clair and their children, Jefferson (Alicia), Christopher, Carrie (Bryan) Groleau and the joys of her life, grandchildren, Clementine and August Groleau. Their shared love of music, dance, the arts and reading brought her much happiness. She is also survived by her brother, John Jost (Audrey) as well as nieces, nephews, her beloved extended family, dear friends, and neighbors.

A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00am Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1212 E. Moreno St., Pensacola, FL. A celebration of her life will follow.
