Betsy Furr Zambrano, 59, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
She was born on February 27, 1958 in Newport, RI to Nancy Combs and Cleamon Virgil Furr. She attended Pine Forest High school in Pensacola, FL, and graduated with a degree in Business Management from Tampa College in 1992.
Betsy enjoyed a fulfilling career in the healthcare industry. Early in her career, Betsy was a leading specialist in the Tampa Bay area in the field of sleep disorders. When she returned to Pensacola, Betsy held leadership roles at various home health organizations and assisted living facilities. Most recently, she devoted her time to helping others through her work with home healthcare and hospice services.
One of Betsy's great loves was the beach. Having spent most of her life in Florida, Betsy had an immense appreciation for the calm and peace that came with being near the water. She also had a passion for sports, and attended as many college and professional sporting events as possible. Her vibrant personality attracted many loyal friends and acquaintances. Betsy cherished traveling and exploring new cities with her loving friends.
Devoted to her family, Betsy was happiest when spending time with her son, Rafael, and was very proud of his successes, both personally and professionally. Her independence, humor, selflessness, and unwavering strength made a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know her.
Betsy's memory will live on in our hearts forever. She is preceded in death by her father, Cleamon Virgil Furr.
After a courageous battle with cancer, she leaves behind her son, Rafael Zambrano III; her mother, Nancy Register; her brothers, Clem and Chris Furr; a sister, Angie Schlobohm; a niece, Brook Jones and nephews, Rick Schlobohm and David Furr.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:30pm Sunday, October 29, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 6 E. Wright St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Care Hospice.
