Obituary

Elisabeth Lussier "Bette" Hayes, passed away at Fort Walton Beach Hospital on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

She was born on June 20, 1922, in Billerica, MA. The eldest daughter of Mary (McConnell) and Leon Lussier. Elisabeth married John F. Hayes in 1943. They made their home in Billerica, MA where they lived for many years. Elisabeth worked for Raytheon Corporation until she retired after 30 years. In their retirement, Elisabeth and John left New England for Florida, living in Winter Park, and Boca Raton, before settling into a home, in Gulf Breeze, FL with their daughter, Capt. MaryAnn Hayes, US Navy Retired.

Elisabeth and MaryAnn traveled England and France collecting genealogy records and visiting hamlets where relatives once lived. Elisabeth was a member of The Pensacola Newcomers Club where she helped organize events and publish the monthly newsletter. Throughout her life, Elisabeth contributed to charities that were close to her heart.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Hayes and by her siblings, Jean Lussier McCartin, Leon Lussier, Joseph Lussier, William L. Lussier, David Lussier, and Francis "Frank" Lussier.

She is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn Hayes; her brother, Richard Lussier of Bonita Springs, FL.

Elisabeth was cremated and her ashes placed with her husband, John F. Hayes, Jr. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
