Betty Jean Johansen Cooper, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 25, 2018 after a short illness. She was lovingly surrounded by her family.
Betty was born on February 6, 1941, was raised in Pensacola, and graduated from PHS in 1959. She was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, and an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #9. Betty was greatly loved by her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a caring and selfless friend to many, and she will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Herbert; her parents, Ed and Minnie Johansen; her brothers, Eddie and Ken Johansen; and her sisters, Kathleen Christmas and Louise Johnson.
Betty is survived by her children, David Cooper (Karla), Nancy Hendry (James) and Amy Gainey (Danny); her eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ellen Penton and Emily Horn; and her sister-in-law, Earline O'Toole.
Visitation will be held 12:00 noon until the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm Friday, November 30, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Walt Kindergan, Christ Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be: Danny Gainey, James Hendry, Scott Frantz, Jake Burks, Andrew Gainey, and Nathan Gainey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
