Obituary

Betty Ann Harwood, 91, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away peacefully early morning Thursday, January 12, 2023, surrounded by family.

Betty was born and raised in Pensacola, FL and attended St. Stephen's Catholic School and Pensacola Catholic High School. She was the Director of CCD at St. Ann's in Brownsville in the 1960s and St. Ann in Gulf Breeze in the 1970s.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Herbert Bishop and Mary Margaret Langford Bishop of Pensacola, FL; her loving husband of 57 years, Lewis Dale Harwood, Sr.; as well as her sister, June Carolyn Longo of Newport News, VA.

She is survived by her sister, Jane Estelle Bishop O.S.B of Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman, AL; her sons, Odus Earl Harwood (Brenda) of Jacksonville, FL and Lewis Dale Harwood (Beverly) of Pensacola, FL; daughters, Patricia Ann Newquist (Eric) of Gulf Breeze FL, Mary Lou Martin (Steven) of Jacksonville, FL, and Bonnie Lee Harwood of Gulf Breeze, FL; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Fr. James Valenzuela, celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Stapleton, Grant Stapleton, Michael Soderlind, Christopher Martin, Ricky Vinson, and Dan Hemmer.
