Betty Jean Long of Pensacola, FL passed away at home on Friday, December 7, 2012. Betty graduated from Pensacola High School in 1954, and served for many years as president of the PHS Class of '54 Alumni Association. She dearly loved her classmates. An active businesswoman, she was president and co-owner of Gulf Technologies, Inc. She was a member of Gadsden Street United Methodist Church. A longtime resident of Calhoun, GA, Betty served as President of the Calhoun Woman's Club and was Vice President of the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs. She was also Director of the Voluntary Action Center. Betty was a voracious reader, and enjoyed boating and water skiing. Her special loves were Crimson Tide football; her dog, Cali; and her "Lunch Bunch" friends. Betty was married to the late James B. Long III. She is survived by her son, John E. Long and beloved daughter-in-law, Margaret, of New York, NY; and son, James B. Long, and companion, Heather Daniels, of Pensacola; as well as cousins, Mark, Mort, and Bill Moody and a large, loving family. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Monday, December 10, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
