Betty Jane Porter, 86, resident of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

Betty Jane "BJ" Porter was born in Hyde Park, NY. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women. She met the love of her life; Henry "Hank" Olin Porter, Jr. Hank was an Air Force pilot who swept BJ off her feet. They had three children, Henry (Carmela), Jeff and Eric (Brynda). The family moved 23 times during Hank's military duty. They made many cherished friends along the way. BJ and the family developed a great appreciation for travel. Once the children were grown, BJ worked in a law firm in South Florida. Following that, BJ extensively traveled the world. She was always planning her next cruise. She eventually settled down in Pensacola. She and Rocky, her Main Coon cat of 14 years, lived at Veranda with many friends.

In addition to her children, she is survived by three grandchildren, Alexandra, Kevin and Jessica.

The family would like to thank Patti Phillipp, the Veranda staff, especially Michelle and the Covenant Hospice team. BJ's motto: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice.
