Betty Jean Thompson Davis, 87, of Navarre, FL went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her beloved family on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
Mrs. Davis was born on February 5, 1929 in Flomaton, AL to Jessie J. and Ida L. Thompson and grew up in Cottage Hill, FL. Over the course of her life she worked at the Friary, Baptist Hospital, volunteered as a Red Cross Lady at Brentwood Junior High. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling with her sisters, shrimping with her husband and most of all loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Davis will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and the best at hosting Christmas and other family gatherings.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Ben L. Davis, Jr.; her sister, Mary Scott Brooks; her son-in-law, Gary C. Daughtery.
Survivors include her children, Marie A. Ribolla (Jack), Margaret J. Miller, Lawrence R. Davis (Charlene), Gregory B. Davis (Lois), Victoria D. Barnard (Larry), and Monica L. Daughtery; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; as well as an aunt, Irene Franklin (George); her sister, Myrtle L. Micari and a brother, J.W. Thompson (Catherine).
Visitation will be held 2:00pm until the Funeral Service to begin at 3:00pm Friday, September 16, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Pitman officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Thompson, George Franklin, Tom Brown, Reynolds Atkins and Charlie Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
