IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Joan
Watson
December 26, 1931 – October 15, 2018
On Monday, October 15, 2018, Betty Joan Watson, passed away at the age of 86.
She was born in Pensacola, FL on December 26, 1931 to the late William Fletcher Frazier, Sr. and Eula Van Matre. She married Leon Watson, Sr. on December 20, 1945 and enjoyed 60 years of marital bliss.
Betty and Leon loved to travel and created precious memories throughout their many years together. She was a wonderful wife, mother, beloved MeMothers, and great-grandmother. Betty adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very involved and supportive part of their lives and was the best MeMothers they could have asked for growing up. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family talking and sharing a meal of her famous Mac & Cheese.
Betty began her career as a homemaker until she joined her husband to help run the office at Watson Mechanical Contractors. Later, together they operated the Old Spanish Trail Seafood Inn. On October 23, 1989, she began a new career at Sacred Heart Hospital where she spent 23 years in the Medical Records department. During her time at Sacred Heart, she became a cherished member of her team who she loved like family.
Betty enjoyed life to the fullest and in her younger years could light up a dance floor as a member of the Daughters of the Nile organization. Betty always enjoyed spending time at her favorite spots, Whataburger and Sonny's BBQ. She was a frequent favorite customer and became well known to the staff who loved to spend time talking with her.
We will carry in our hearts her smile, laughter and spunk. Her presence was a bright spot in the lives of all that knew her and that will never be forgotten in the days to come without her. We will miss and remember her always – especially her "Hey Darlin" and "Bless Your Heart". She will forever be everyone's MeMothers.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Watson, Sr., who was the love of her life for 60 years; her infant son; and two siblings, William Fletcher Frazier, Jr. and Lona June White.
Survivors include her two children, Leon Watson, Jr. (Vickie) and Lee Ann Kimbrough (Dean); 4 grandchildren, Kyle Watson, Kayla Rush, James Kimbrough, and Kelsey Savell; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Andy Watson (Sissy) and 3 sisters-in-law, Nellie Watson, Gerry Watson, and Pearl Frazier; along with many nieces, nephews, and some wonderful friends.
