Obituary

Betty Jo Williams, age 87, of Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 4, 2020. Betty was born in Crowley, LA to the late Dainy and Mabel Dunn Wilkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace L. Williams, infant daughter, Sandra Louise Williams, sister, Connie Kent, brother, Jerry Shepard, and step-father, Roy Shepard. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, graduated from Catholic High School, loved camping, working on crossword puzzles, reading a good book and sitting outside on her porch bird watching. She drove cancer patients to treatments for the "Road to Recovery". She was a basketball coach for many years and worked as a classroom aide and Girl Scout leader. She also worked as the bookstore clerk at Catholic High, and as secretary for St. Paul and Catholic High school's.

Those left to cherish her memory include her five children, Deborah (Michael) Barrow, Cindy Pedersen, Jean Fernandez, Wally Jr., Michael (Ann) Williams; eleven grandchildren, Bruce Auclair, Jason Auclair, Leslie Lowery, Robbie and Richard (Crystal) Barrow, Nathan (Liz) Jimmerson, Jennifer (Don) Schweikert, Christina, Brian, Sarah, Jacob (Laura) and Adam Williams; sixteen great grandchildren, brother, John Shepard; nephew, Chuck Williams, niece, Marilyn (Don) Justice; cousin, Fay Dan Cunningham; a dear friend, Francis Johnson; and her loving feline companion Lilly.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, with Fr. Hank Lech, celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service at the church on Wednesday, interment service will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Richard Barrow, Jacob Williams, Bubba Chappelle, Michael Jimmerson, Adam Williams and Larry Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Helen Laritz, Virginia Holland, Catherine Humpreys and Betty Ann Chappelle.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to West Florida Hospital and Covenant Hospice, especially nurse Ingrid Carlson, for the loving care shown to Betty during her illness. The family wishes also to express their thanks and gratitude to Mom's very special friends, Ann Brzezinski, Catherine Humphreys, Darla Johnson and Betty Ann Chappelle. They will always have a special place in our hearts for the kindness and love given to Mom over many years.
