Obituary

Blanche Marie Anderson Archer was born September 13, 1917, to Blanche Marie Oldmixon Anderson and William Anderson. Blanche passed away at the age of 97 on June 5, 2015, surrounded by many family members. She is pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Eric Archer; brothers, Andy Anderson and Kick Anderson; sisters, Alice Day and Carolyn Raidt; granddaughter, Lisa Rhodes; son-in-law, Charles Rhodes and daughter-in-law, Ginger McDavid Archer. Blanche was a member of The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for over 80 years where she was a member of various organizations. She was also very active at Sacred Heart School where her four children attended many years ago. Blanche retired from the City of Pensacola Police Department where she served as secretary in the Detective Bureau. She was a very talented seamstress and created clothing, costumes, formal gowns, and wedding gowns for her sisters, daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. She was also a wonderful cook who was best known for her spaghetti sauce, gumbo, and potato salad. Her home was a place where everyone loved to gather and always felt welcome. Blanche, who was known by many names..Mom, Mama, Mama Archer, Grandma, Baby, and Aunt Baby..graduated from Pensacola High School in 1935. She and her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Archer, married in 1939. They were married for 47 years before Kenneth passed away in 1986. She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Archer and Larry (Marylee) Archer (Baltimore, MD); daughters, Linda Rhodes and Judy Haynes (Butch); grandchildren, Stephen Rhodes (Cindy), Vicki Rhodes Carter (Karl), Michael Rhodes (Melanie), Kelli Haynes Evertsen (Mike), Kristin Haynes Walker (Philip), Keith Haynes, Katie Archer Collins (Tim), Eric Archer (Hannah), Evan Archer, and Erin Archer of Baltimore, MD; as well as her sister, Gloria Collins. Blanche was also the proud great-grandmother of 19 and aunt to many nieces and nephews. On June 10, 2015, at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the rosary will be recited at 9:45am, followed by visitation from 10:00 -11:00am. The Funeral Mass of Burial will begin at 11:00am, with Fr. Pat Foley officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Stephen Rhodes, Michael Rhodes, Keith Haynes, Eric Archer, Evan Archer and nephew, Michael Raidt.
