IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bob Lee
Bailey
October 7, 1946 – January 26, 2023
Robert "Butch" Lee Bailey, 76, of Pensacola, FL left this earth on Thursday, January 26, 2023, with the love of his life by his side.
Bob was born on October 7, 1946, in Dubois, PA. In 1949, his parents founded the famous Bailey's Drive In where Bob worked for many years serving hot dogs and ice cream cones. He graduated from Lock Haven University in 1968 and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity; he was also a lifelong Penn State fan. After leaving Pennsylvania, Bob relocated to the Northern Virginia area and began his career at Navy Federal Credit Union. He retired from NFCU in 2013 after 20 years of service. Bob spent the last 10 years of his retirement maintaining his beautiful lawn and working on his "honey-do" list with Elizabeth. In October 2021, Bob and Elizabeth relocated to Pensacola, FL to be closer to their grandchildren, the beach, and the Blue Angels.
Bob was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid reader and had a book collection rivaling some libraries. Most mornings he could be found at the kitchen table reading The Washington Post, sipping coffee, and eating cereal. He loved history, sports, and collected t-shirts to commemorate his many travels. Bob loved Las Vegas and always saved room for dessert!
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Henry "Dutch" and Gladys "Gladdie" Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his sons, Jason Bailey (fiancée Candice Hart) and Dan Bailey (Kerry); his stepdaughter, Catherine McEwen (Scott); his grandchildren, Zach Bailey, Camryn Bailey, AJ Bailey, Allie Bailey, Emma McEwen, and Jack McEwen; his sister-wife, Mary Kay Massey and brother-in-law, Wade Massey; as well as his nieces and nephews, Mary Beth Massey, Hugh Massey, Drew Compston, Evan Compston, and Beth Trader.
A celebration to honor Bob will be scheduled at a later date in Pensacola, FL.
