IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bob
Gandrup
January 16, 1964 – June 13, 2022
Robert Allen "Bob" Gandrup, 58, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, June 13, 2022.
Bob was born in Borger, TX on January 16, 1964. After graduating from Irvin High School in 1982, he resumed his education at the University of Texas at El Paso and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in Art Education. He did post-graduate work at the Yale University School of Drama.
Robert started his professional career at the University of Texas El Paso Music Department where he designed and produced scenery for operas, musicals, and zarzuela productions. In 1992, he moved to Farmington, NM to be the Technical Director and Events Coordinator of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at San Juan College. While in Farmington, he created the Silhouette Performing Arts Series and assisted in designing new theaters at San Juan College and Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO. In 1998, he moved to Lubbock, TX to work in the Theater Department at Texas Tech University. In 2001, he arrived in Pensacola, FL to be the Technical Director for the Music and Theater Department at Pensacola State College. For nearly 21 years he has designed, built and painted sets for PSC productions and taught courses in Technical Theater, Stagecraft and special topics in technical theater. He provided the technical assistance needed by numerous events every year. He was a mentor to many who took his classes and worked on his crews. He was always generous with advice, solutions and encouragement and will be remembered for his intellect, patience, and his detail oriented and hard work ethic.
He was a life-long LA Dodgers and Rams fan. He truly believed both teams' recent championships occurred only because he refused to actually watch a game live on TV. Instead, checking scores from time to time or watching game highlights. This may seem a mere superstition to many, but to Bob it was, in fact, science.
He was a cherished husband and best friend to Kim for nearly 29 years. He was a loving and devoted father to Jessica and Emma who considered him their Super Hero.
He is joined in heaven with his parents, Eugene and Minnie Gandrup. He is survived by his wife, Kim Gandrup; daughters, Jessica and Emma Gandrup; brother, Thomas Gandrup; nieces/nephew, Nadia, Lexi, Alex & Dawson as well as loving in-laws, Maria Gandrup, Carolyn and John Brewer, Jennifer Abbott and Stephen Tandy.
A Memorial Service for Robert will be held 11:00am Friday, June 24, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Ken Griffin officiating.
